The pole-vaulting career of Allison Stokke was cut short, but she did win some prestigious awards in the beginning of her career. Numerous sports websites sexualized her in the beginning, not recognizing the deserved praises she received for the sport of pole-vaulting, and making her just a sex image. She shattered the pole vaulting high school freshman American record set at Newport Harbor High School by leaping 3.86 meters. In the following year she broke the record by vaulting 4.11 meters.
